THE AMBERSUN HERD
Our herd is over 1,000 strong, making it one of Australia’s largest. Ambersun Alpacas has focused our breeding program on White, Light Fawn and Appaloosa alpacas, though every variation of coloured animal is present on the farm.
Our friendly alpacas are renowned for their extremely fine fleece. At 11 microns (11 thousandths of a millimetre) our alpaca wools is 7 times finer than the average human hair and on the finest spectrum of any natural fibres in the world.
They produce 2-4kgs of ultra fine fleece per year for the majority if not their whole life.
Alpacas are environmentally friendly, their eating habits, diet and soft padded feet make their attrition on the pasture very minimal, and their methane output is significantly less than most other livestock.
